Returns & Refunds

Last updated: September 2026

Every Southpaw blind is cut and assembled to the measurements you give us. That is what makes it fit your window — and it is also why a custom blind can't be put back on a shelf. This page explains exactly what we can and can't take back, and what we replace free of charge.

Custom orders are not returnable

Because each shade is manufactured to your exact width, height, color, mount and control choices, it has no resale value to anyone else. Once production begins, custom orders cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded for reasons of preference — including a change of mind about color, opacity, control type or room. Our manufacturer's own terms treat made-to-measure goods the same way.

24-hour cancellation window

You can cancel any order for a full refund within 24 hours of placing it. Email hello@southpawblinds.com with your order number and the word "cancel" in the subject line. Refunds go back to the original card through Stripe and typically appear within 5–10 business days.

After 24 hours, materials have been cut to your sizes and the order can no longer be cancelled.

Defects, damage and wrong specs — replaced free

We replace, at no cost to you, any blind that arrives:

  • with a manufacturing defect — a failed mechanism or motor, flawed fabric, broken or missing hardware;
  • damaged in transit;
  • built to a size, color or option that does not match the specification confirmed on your order confirmation email.

Report damage within 7 days of delivery and include photos of the product and of the shipping carton. Please keep the carton until the claim is resolved — the carrier inspects the packaging as part of a damage claim, and without it a claim can be denied.

Measuring errors are not covered

If a blind is manufactured correctly to the measurements you submitted but does not fit your window, that is not a defect and it is not covered. The measurements on your order confirmation are the measurements we build to.

This is why every order carries a factory deduction. By default we take 1/4" off your stated inside-mount width, which gives the shade room to raise and lower without rubbing an out-of-square frame. The tighter 1/8" option leaves a smaller light gap but far less margin for error, so it requires you to tick an acknowledgment before checkout. If you are at all unsure, read the measuring guide first, or call us at (509) 210-7645 before you order.

How to start a claim

Email hello@southpawblinds.com with:

  • your order number (it appears on your confirmation and invoice emails);
  • which window or line item is affected;
  • a short description of the problem;
  • photos of the blind, the defect or damage, and the shipping carton.

We respond to claims within two business days. If a replacement is approved we build and ship it at our cost — there is nothing for you to pay and, in most cases, nothing to send back.
